Shrewsbury is a town in the west of England, close to the border between England and Wales. The town is situated in the county of Shropshire, and has a population of approximately 70,000 inhabitants. The town is thought to have been founded during Roman times, though some believe the town was actually founded later on, in the 8th century. The town was significant for the wool trade, which was very big in Britain prior to the industrial revolution. The town was largely bypassed by the industrial revolution. In fact, the towns population declined during this period thanks to the rail making it easy to move to where jobs could be found. As a result, Shrewsbury still retains a lot of its middle-age buildings, including the town hall and the market square, and much of its town centre. The town has both a theory and a practical test centre. The theory centre is located on Abbey Foregate, half a mile from the railway station. The practical test centre is on Yeomanry road, on the Battlefield Business Park.
